Dahil May Isang Ikaw

What makes the Echo-Tin flick click for me is not their chemistry this time. To be really honest, the tandem does not bring so much sparks anymore.

Surprisingly, that's one of the reasons why I believe I am hooked. While this could have been another love story sweetened to the most saccharine (read: nakakasuya ) level, the director might have realized not to capitalize on the "kilig" factor that is barely there anymore but rather focus on making the story credible and intense.

The development of each character and the well-regulated pacing of each scene would make you want to ask how will it end without wanting the series to end yet. Each actor is top class although I am still waiting for Chin Chin to mellow down with her "gigil" acting. I know she is good. She just needs to give her character a more interesting take. On the other hand, Lorna, being the seasoned actress that she is, sealed the deal and made my viewing habit as something worth blogging about.

Lovers In Paris

Having seen KC in a movie with Richard Guttierez made me irk with disgust as I am one of those who expected too much from the megastar's megadaughter.

Wrong comedic timing, unforgivable innuendos and unnecessary acting gestures pulled the megadaughter's big screen debut downhill. It's not that KC has no moment of brilliance at all. In all fairness, you can see the effort she brings. And, I think that is what many people thought is wrong. One naturally expects that being a daughter of two showbiz greats, acting should come as effortlessly as breathing to her (unless she has an asthma). Moreover, most of us does not see her as a newcomer anymore. Needless to say, having accomplished showbiz personalities as parents worked against KC big time.

So, seeing her act breezily as Vivian in Lovers in Paris made me smile at her in awe. Boy, this girl is intelligent enough to come full circle! This time, the gestures are relevant, the timing is natural and the facial expression is convincing. I even like the voice over. And, I soooo adore the presence of K Brosas, Aaron and Assunta as they pitch in some comedic scenes and thus, keep the teleserye light and charming.
Well, KC may not be able to successfully move away from his parents shadow but then who said that even that is something she should not be proud of?

Nagsimula Sa Puso

Maja is my favorite. She is my brother's favorite. She is my friends Jong's and Domeng's favorite. Everybody seems to like this little tart. So, why is she not given a huge break?

While I disagree that she needs to be a little more daring and bolder to prove that she is a worthwhile investment, Maja's image change proves somewhat more parallel to her acting prowess. Watching her act is like seeing someone who can be a Claudine Barretto sans the attitude.

Maja, while intense, keeps her face on check. She pours out emotions by modulating her voice and working out her eyes - not her eyebrows. And when she's sweet, she is charming - not pa-cute!

Anyway, the soap has been running for a week now. I did not catch the episodes for the whole week but I was able to catch up and had finished everything I missed within two days. Coco Martin is superb and is currently the apple of my eyes. He is a worthy Maja Salvador leading man. Meanwhile, Jaclyn Jose is colossal as usual, Jason Abalos (who used to be my classmate in gradeschool) is at par and Laurice Guillen makes my heart wrench. And, most importantly, the plot will get you trapped to your screens.

I watch some of the actresses through Direct TV but when we moved to Korea, we lost our satellite connection so am thankful that you wrote this thorough review. I can catch up when we go back to the sates again December..

By the way, I am trying to generate some support for our daughter. I entered her into a Smile Contest, so if you could please vote for her (just once), the contest runs until October 31st. Your vote would be so much appreciated.

To cast your vote, please go to this link. Please look for Jillian Rylie Cottrill.

Thank you very much for your help!

I enjoyed your reviews more than who-are-the-artistas in those teles, haha, Galeng ng synopsis or dahil merong apple of the eye ka na naman?

Imagine you make tutok to every episodes nightly, I'm like you're so young to waste your time watching these on little screen? JOKES.

Imbyerness, mas I prefer naman talaga ang Chan-2 teleseryes.

So how's Gabriel?

@ diyosa,

maja's a class of her own. this break is long overdue and i'm just glad the project with geoff eigenmann was canned. she deserves someone like coco on challenging scenes. and about Darna, uhmmm...nothing against it pero let's just say that Marian should be thankful she's popular. 'yun lang. hihihihi.

@ mareng lindz,

it is not too late to catch up, mare! i'm just watching these soaps in the internet. minsan magbasa ka rin ng mga tsismis tungkol sa mga artista. that's how you get familiar with them. :)

@ chubskulit,

watching these and other pinoy shows could somehow relieve your daily stress. sana makanood ka na ulet. btw, i already voted for ur daughter. leading sha, in fairness!!! :)

@ k.noizki,

hahaha. tenks k. coco's sucha hottie, don't u think? and me getting glued to the tube is my way of living a frugal life. so, im trying to avoid going out kase meron akong mga nakaline-up na projex. nde ko pa natanong si gab. will try to ask him tomorrow...im sooo curious 'bout it! :p

@ jong,

'teh 'wag maxadong magpuyat. kea wala nang efex sa u ang undereye corrector eh. bigay mo na sa 'kin 'yan 'teh! hihihihi. frugal life!!!

@ dencios,

try mo kaseng panoorin. nakakawala ng homesick. at, uy! hindi nman ako mean kay adnos. wla akong krapatan. he is talented. he invited me to read his blog and na-impress ako sa mga initial entries n'ya. i just thought na prang incoherent yung ibang subplots na iniinject nya. opinyon ko lng nman xempre. he needs to have a plan and a vision kung paanong tatakbo ang story at anong "mood" ng boses ng nagkkwento ang dpat n'yang panindigan hanggang sa huli. importante kse 'yun. bsta, i mean well and i still believe he is a good writer. :)

Nice observation mare!

Basta, 'yung may gusto kay Vivian, he he.

'Yung Nagsimula sa Puso, hindi ko napapanood, pero kilala ko si Coco Martin :) May commercial sya, kanin nalang ang kulang, ha ha :P
